4 Steps to a Clean INSTALLATION
 
(1) Download Your Update. . .
Download the latest version from their web page saving it in your
c:\My Download Files
folder renaming the downloaded program installer what you want.
Go to the folder and send a shortcut of the new download to your desktop.

(2) Un-Installing. . .

Step A: Shut down all non-essential programs. . .

Quit all other applications, make sure that all non-essential programs (especially virus scanners and screen savers) have been shut down.
The biggest culprit is Anti-Virus software, please disable this before you uninstall and reinstall.  You will have to consult your manual or talk with your Anti-Virus tech support for the proper way to disable it temporarily. Other programs like First Aid, Shell Programs like Norton Navigator, etc. need to be turned off as well.
Step B: UNinstall. . .
On desktop double click on My Computer
Double click on Control Panel
Double click on Add/Remove Programs
Scroll down the list to and single click to highlight
             the program you wish to remove
Single click on the BUTTON Add/Remove Start
Then follow the directions given on each pop up screen.
All leading to a complete uninstall.

Some programs have their own UNINSTALLERS and
cannot be removed thru the Control Panel.
Go to: Start | Programs Find the program you wish to remove
Double click to open The Uninstaller
Then follow the directions given on each pop up screen.
All leading to a complete uninstall.
RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. . .
To complete the UN-install. . .


(3) Clean Your Hard Drive. . .

We'll do the two built-in
Windows 95-98 maintenance programs!
However it does not clean everything off your hard disk that should be removed.
See Cleaning Your Hard Drive for all the steps to a clean hard drive for your weekly cleaning job. Below is an abbreviated version just to use after un-installation.

Run SCAN DISK
Basically it scans the hard disk for errors.
Single Click. . .Start | Select. . .Programs
Select. . .Accessories
Single Click. . .System Tools | Select. . .SCANDISK
Make sure there is or put a dot next to THOROUGH
and a check next to Automatically FIX ERRORS.

Run DEFRAG
Imagine a bag of M&M's on a platter, then you eat all the red ones. I come over and eat all the yellow ones. See all those random empty spaces on the platter, that's what your hard drive looks like if you don't DEFRAG once in a while.  It takes the hard drive longer to find information if it's scattered around like the M&M's. Let's push them all together.
Single Click. . .Start | Select. . .Programs
Select. . .Accessories
Single Click. . .System Tools | Select. . .DISK DEFRAGMENTER
On the tiny window that appears, select the hard disk you wish to defrag and
Single Click. . .OK
On the next tiny window, Single Click. . .Start
RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. . .
Now your ready to INSTALL. . .

(4)Install. . .

On the desktop double-click the installation .exe shortcut you placed there.
Then follow the directions given on each pop up screen
